Street Books is a bicycle-powered traveling library that serves homeless people in Portland, Oregon. These cargo bike-riding librarians ride to select locations where people can borrow books without having to show ID or proof of address. Pretty heartwarming and a reminder what a great social equalizer bikes are.
On another note, this is from Al Jazeera. I know a lot of people are wary of this Qatari government-funded media outlet. YouTube even felt compelled to include an ‘information’ note to let viewers know of its source. I’ve never seen such a notice for CBC or BBC productions and I’ve never seen an Al Jazeera video that felt biased against our decadent North American ways. Most are pretty much boosterism like this video. Strange.
