I don’t know what surprises me more about this clip from the Steve Allen Show of March 4, 1963—that network TV put an unknown Frank Zappa on the Steve Allen show playing the bicycle, or that they gave him a whopping 14 minute segment. That’s old school live TV for you.
That first squawk of a violin bow over the spokes is a bit hard to take but it gets better and Frank acquits himself pretty well. Like a Mother of Invention ought to.
